We have adaptors that fit most major models of cookers, smokers, and grills without having to do any modifications. If you have a ceramic or kamado style grill, our adaptors will fit nearly all of models and no drilling is required. Our adaptors will fit right into the bottom damper built into your cooker.
The first step in finding the right adaptor for your cooker is to visit our Help Me Choose Guide.
In the rare instance that we don't have an adaptor that will fit onto an existing damper on your cooker, you may be able to drill a hole below your fire grate to be able to use a BBQ Guru control system.
Kettle Style Grills: Unless you have a specific kettle with a built-in BBQ Guru port, you'll most likely need to drill a 7/8" hole about 1" below your fire grate.
Vertical Smokers: Most vertical smokers can be regulated with the use of only one fan. This will typically require a 1 3/8” hole about 1” below the fire grate.
Offset Smokers: If the firebox is smaller than 18" x 18", the cooker can usually be regulated with the use of one of our large fans which will require a 1 3/8” hole about 1” below the fire grate. If the firebox is over 18" x 18", you'll most likely need to use two of our larger 25 CFM fans which will require two 1 3/8" holes about 1" below the fire grate.
In this instance the fans can be placed side-by-side or opposite each other on the firebox. We offer an optional 6' fan extension cord if you need additional length for your fan wire.
If you end up needing to cut a hole in your smoker, we recommend using a hole saw or step drill for the job.
